Tratamiento del desgaste dental

Dental wear

Premature dental wear is one of the most common problems we see in our field of work

Stress has a negative impact on the integrity of the dental structure. Other factors that negatively affect dental health include eating food with excess acids (excessive amounts of fruit juice, excessive amounts of vinegar, lemon…), gastroesophageal reflux disease or eating disorders such as bulimia or anorexia that cause vomiting or clenching of the jaw.

Some signs of dental wear are: discoloration of the tooth, shortening of length, loss of shine, sensitivity, appearance of cracks, fissures, fractures which in some instances lead to the necessary removal of a tooth.

We have solutions for dental wear

At the Vilaboa Dental Clinic in Madrid we have been treating dental wear for decades. Knowing how to detect dental wear and deciding how and when to treat it is fundamental for the diagnosis. The analysis of the patient’s daily habits and diet can also be decisive when it comes to helping the patient. The doctoral thesis of Dr Beatriz R Vilaboa is about how to improve the quality of life of a patient with dental wear.

Furthermore, implementing a dental wear prevention programme can avoid many future problems. When we talk about dental wear we are not just talking about teeth grinding. There are many varied causes of dental wear, although teeth grinding is perhaps one of the most well-known factors.

Dental wear treatment

Digital technology enables us to carry out restorative treatment, with minimally invasive processes, which are very precise and do not require moulds to be made.

We treat dental wear in the least invasive form, without filing the teeth and often without the need to use anaesthetics. Instead, we use composite or porcelain fittings with porcelain crowns on the back teeth.

In certain cases, we apply the concept of Direct Adhesive Rehabilitation which allows us to reconstruct all the teeth in a single session.
